The bass traps or the membrane bass trap is essential to achieve a clear sound. With their assistance we can accomplish the most important and at the same time the most difficult task: dampening the bass.
Why is it necessary to dampen the bass?
In case of bass below 150Hz reverberation increases. In practice it means that we will not hear the real amount and quality of low frequencies but the sound of the room. Distorted bass can damage sound experience, we cannot fully enjoy nor films nor music.
How can membrane bass traps help?
We apply membrane bass traps principally in order to tame reverberation.
The membrane bass trap is an acoustic item which mitigates the excessive sound waves in a narrower frequency range. Contrary to other absorbing acoustic panels – the broadband acoustic panels cannot effectively dampen the sub-bass frequency – membrane bass traps absorb bass significantly more effectively in the low frequency range.
The special acoustic items are made of highest quality materials with thickness necessary to dampen low frequencies. Thanks to the careful finishing and precise fitting, following proper acoustic measurement and accurate set-up we can get a clearer, airier, more lifelike and more pleasant sound.
Why foam, acoustic foam, polystyrene won’t do the job?
The length of bass sound waves is longer than the length of the high frequencies. To mitigate bass we need acoustic panels made of other type of materials. Deep bass can only be tamed by dense, fibrous, high specific weight material or acoustic membrane. Lot of people make the same mistake of gluing the walls fully with acoustic foams but the impact is well below their expectations in fact on the contrary, the soft, light structured foam, polystyrene, acoustic foam absorbs the higher frequencies, thus the low frequencies become more dominant which wanted to be dampened originally.
How to apply membrane bass traps?
- Bass should be mitigated in the corners at first thenon the side walls – primarily on the front wall – and behind thelistener position.
- If possible do not place the membrane bass trapsdirectly to the wall but keep at least 10 cm distance.
- We shouldn’tforget one of the most important part of the room, the ceiling.
Since this area is empty standing waves can spread without anybarrier which can cause large peaks and nulls in the low frequencies.
Inwhat sort of places we can use bass traps?
- Absorbing membrane can be used in studios, home theatres, sometimes in living-rooms.
- In those cases where other absorbing panels don’t give enough mitigation at the low frequencies.
- In those places where the high frequencies are already over dampened versus the low frequencies.
If you can only buy one thing, this should be the one!
In order to achieve the perfect acousticimpact we may need to install several panels. If room characteristics do not allow to place proper amount of acoustic panels, it is vital to use membrane bass traps even in such cases.
Bass traps offer the following benefits:
- Clearer, more even, more lifelike sound.
- Perfect sub-bass damping, the room will be filled with the real bass of the music or movie.
- Decorative accessory in your living-room:
Besides perfect sounding we pay a special attention also to the appearance. We use high-quality materials – wood, leather, imitation of leather, acoustic velvet – and implement also individual ideas – your own photo, printed design, custom size.
Why the membrane bass traps produced by Perfect Acoustic is a good choice?
Made with expertise and experience
Besides our high-level professional competence, we can also utilise the experience of previous years when designing and manufacturing of our products.
Maximum effectiveness produced by our unique technology, our membrane bass traps can be proud of having the highest sound absorption coefficient available on the market today.
Produced to suit your taste
Producing our specific, sub-bass targeting membrane bass traps we pay special attention both their acoustic effectiveness and their aesthetic appearance. Besides the sophisticated finishing and applied materials, it is important that our products must suit to the style of your studio, living-room or home theatre.
Practical placement, easy set-up
Besides acoustic efficiency and aesthetic appearance we also seek to practical placement. Due to their size and weight our membrane bass traps cannot only wall mounted but can stand alone.
By this they can be used as mobile panels too.
We supplied our panels with drills for bolts, in order to facilitate mounting on the wall or ceiling.
What type of materials do we use?
Depending on the model bass trap can be made of wood or imitation of leather. The biggest problem is the dampening of low frequencies below 70 Hz since high density, fibrous, absorbing materials are not appropriate.
However resonating membrane bass trap sheets made of wood or leather can tame unwanted low frequency sound waves up from 30 Hz.
Wood membranes works between 30Hz and 200Hz, imitation of leather membranes mitigates between 30Hz and 600Hz.
Appearance of our products
Besides effectiveness we pay a special attention also to the appearance, offering wide range of designs:
