What is an acoustic panel?

With acoustic panels we can improve the acoustics of the room. The panels are made of specific materials and with specific design that
enable them to decrease or eliminate the unwanted noises in the room.

What sort of sound waves are dampened by
the acoustic panels?

Acoustic panels are used primarily when reflecting sounds or echo distort sounds in the office, studio, or sounds emitted by a home theatre system or a Hi-Fi audio system.

The cause of disturbing sounds is bad
acoustics

Unfortunately, no matter how much time, energy and money we spend to buy the perfect equipment we may face these problems anyway. It depends mainly on the acoustics of the given room what sound quality is performed by the devices we use.

If we cannot fully enjoy watching movies or listening to music, or the studio work is disturbed by the bad acoustics of the room, we do not need more expensive equipment rather an acoustic treatment to better design acoustics.
Unfortunately, many people realise this after replacing their equipment they used for a decade and spend several HUF millions.

What is an acoustic design?

Acoustics deals with the production and transmission of mechanical vibrations and waves in solids, liquids and gases. From the many applications we know room acoustics has an importance from our point of view.

The enhancement of acoustics, i.e. improving the sound quality produced in a room, consists of mitigating the distortion and reverberation caused by the room or the layout of the adjacent hall. To do so, the acoustic panels can help us implementing desired changes in quality.

The first step is taking measurements

Let’s place the specific equipment in a given room. But the acoustic conditions may vary whether the room was constructed of wood or bricks, there are furniture in it or
it is totally empty, there are windows on the walls or not, or if only chairs are in it and people are sitting on them.

All these factors modify the acoustics of a given room, therefore, it is possible that the equipments’ performance sounds slightly differently depending on where we stand and listen to them and what are the basic acoustic characteristics of the room.

In the course of acoustic treatment, we first determine the exact data of the acoustics of the given room:

We take into consideration the solid boundaries of the room:

  • of what material the walls are composed of;
  • how large the surface of glasses is;
  • the energy absorption capacity of the various materials;
  • how symmetrical the room is;
  • what is the intensity and phase of the reflected sound reaching the arbitrary position of the listener;
  • whether there is any reverberation or echo that may worsen the quality of the emitted sound.

How can the acoustic panel help?

The acoustic panels have impact on the bass, the middle and high frequencies, we can apply them if we want to obtain great results in treating the echo and reflecting sounds.

Depending on the size and the conditions of the room – which has been already calculated during acoustic measurement – we can specify how many panels do we need and where should we place them in order to achieve the desired results. Following the mounting of the panels the results will be audible and almost palpable.

Will my room be over-crowded due to the acoustic elements?

Not at all. We can tailor-made the acoustic panels based on your unique requirements. Besides using best performing, high quality materials, you have the opportunity to choose acoustic panels which fit the style of your home or the given room.

Apart from their unique appearance, desired aesthetic effects can be achieved when mounting made to measure acoustic panels. In order to achieve the best results, panels should be placed behind the listener’s position at ear level and on the sidewalls. An acoustic panel may give the impression of a picture, a painting or a photo placed on the wall behind or next to your sofa.

Can acoustical panels be homemade?

It does not serve aesthetics neither the desired result we wish to achieve if we try to palliate the acoustic issues of our room by placing furniture, books, curtains around, or acoustic foam on the walls.

The homemade method will not deliver the desired results since the applied materials do not have the proper sound reflecting quality, moreover, if we use them without any acoustic measurement they wont deliver the proper effect.

Furniture, carpets do not have the needed sound absorption attributes. Sound waves can pass through them thus creating further reflections. Acoustic foam absorbs only the high frequencies by which bass becomes even more dominant.

Why the acoustic panel of Perfect Acoustic is the right choice?

Our acoustic panels have excellent sound absorption capabilities, therefore, they are suitable even to absorb echoes.
Thanks to their effective sound absorption characteristics, the quality materials used by us ensure that we can achieve good results even if we apply fewer acoustic panels.

The goal of our acoustic panels is not sound insulation i.e. preventing the sound to escape from the room. Panels can reduce, but cannot totally eliminate the resonances of the room.
The sound pressure of a room with acoustic design may decrease by 15db; and sounds coming from it we hear significantly quieter in another room.

The application of acoustic panels enhances the feeling of spaciousness, and the sound becomes clear and free from distortions. In order to achieve this in studios, we may also need to redesign the floor, the corners and the ceiling corners besides the side walls.

During the preparation of our acoustic panels we pay a special attention to individual needs, our products qualify for being part of the room decorations.
